It is around this time that I start thinking about the past year and what I would like to change in the new year. There is not much that I would like to change but there are few things that need to be addressed, at the very least, improved upon. Admittedly, I usually start off strong then fizzle out.
1. SLEEP: I definitely need to get more sleep. Hi. My name is Danielle and I am a Night Owl! I find that the house is so peaceful and quiet at night that I just don't want it to end. What do I spend all my time doing while everyone is catching their zzzz's? I watch shows that I have on tivo, cruise the internet, blog, edit photos, read books, organize, clean, knit, seriously the list is endless. But, the routine of my night goes like this.... bed (midnight-1 am), daughter 2 crawls in my bed (3 am), daughter 3 wedges into my bed (4 am) a fight breaks out on who gets the "sweet" spot of the bed-for those of you who don't know, the "sweet" spot is the one place in the bed that is perfectly curved to your body and both kids fight over who gets it. Then we all go back to sleep only to be woken up two/three hours later by daughter number 1 jumping on all of us! If I was more prepared by going to bed earlier, then I wouldn't have such a difficult time rolling out of bed in the morning.
2. EXERCISE: Now that I'm in my thirties (I can't even believe I am typing that!) I have to get myself physically active more than once a week-I have finally admitted to myself that vacuuming is not exercise. Enough said!
3. EAT HEALTHY: I completely let go of all rational thoughts over the holidays and ate everything in sight. Now I have to fit back into my jeans because sweatpants are just not that stylish every day of the week. Here's my plan: eat everything that is a whole food; food that has one ingredient before eating other foods. Examples: apples, banana, raisins, pears, carrots, etc. This way hopefully I fill up on the good stuff and eat less of the not so good stuff. Two things I refuse to give up-my glass of red wine and dark chocolate. I am human....
4. BEING ON TIME: For those of you who know me, you are fully aware of the solid fact that I am ALWAYS late! I have to apologize to everyone for this. I once babysit for a woman, now a really close friend of mine, who would purposely tell me to start 30 minutes before she actually needed me-she knew I was never on time. We laugh about it now. My husband says "if your not 10 minutes early, your late". Well, I'll never be early-sometimes I'll be on time but mostly I'll always be late. Disclaimer: To my clients-I am either early or on time :) Scouts honor!
5. TAKE MORE PICTURES WITH MY FAMILY: I made a photo book for my youngest daughter, Pearl, for Christmas this year and noticed that out of the 1,800 pictures that I had to work with, I was only in 10 of them. 10. Seriously-I can't keep up with that pace. I'm missing in so many family events that it seems like I take vacations by myself! Not the case. I have two ways to fix this problem. One, I am going to get a tripod. I think it would be fun to do a monthly photo session with my family. My camera has a timer. The second solution is to call upon you, my friends, my family: get the camera out of my hands and force me to be part of the picture. My cousin Kerrie and I have an agreement, when we are together, we are to take photos of each other with our kids. As mothers, we are always documenting our children whether it is in their baby journals, notebooks, or with our cameras. Hopefully I'll notice a difference next Christmas when I am making another photo book.
Send me your resolutions-Thank you for reading mine :)
xx
Danielle
